Happy Good Friday! This week on Reeves’ Tennessee Top 5, I’m keeping things short and sweet.
1. Two of our final committees, State and Local Government and Health Welfare, closed this week.
2. The budget will likely be presented on the Senate floor on April 15th.
3. I passed SB 2556 through the Senate Health and Welfare Committee this week. This bill will make new FDA approved and DEA scheduled medications available sooner for Tennesseans.
4. I had the honor of bringing my intern, Alaya Fuqua, on the Senate floor on Thusday. I am so grateful to have had her in my office this session.
5. Happy Easter! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your family.
One of my bills, SB 2558, is heading to the Governor’s desk for signature. SB2558/HB2517 provides clarification on the authority of the Tennessee State Veterinarian.
Another busy week in the books! On this week’s Reeves’ Top 5, I have a few important things to share with you all.
1. On Monday, women’s republican groups came together from across the state to host their annual luncheon. I had the pleasure of meeting and sitting with over 20 women from Rutherford County.
2. We celebrated Outdoor Day on the Hill on Tuesday. We had fishing, boating, and climbing groups, as well as the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Association (TWRA) and our state park groups.
3. Wednesday was the 38th Annual Lincoln County Hamburger Day on the Hill. I used to serve Lincoln County a few years ago, and it was wonderful to see so many old friends from Fayetteville here at the Capitol. Living Sent Ministries also had their Day on the Hill this Wednesday. They came together each floor and prayed for us all. I am so grateful for everything they do in our communities.
4. I passed SB 1788 on the Senate Floor this Thursday. This bill was brought to me by a Murfreesboro constituent and helps ensure that homeless individuals are not being displaced and sent from one city to another.
5. The legislature has just received the Governor’s supplemental budget, which includes $5 million dollars for cyber security at MTSU.
Now that the legislative session is beginning to wind down, I wanted to take you all through one of my days as a Tennessee State Senator.
Thankful to the large crowd of Republican women that came to Nashville today from Rutherford County. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Happy Friday everyone! On this week’s Reeves’ Tennessee Top Five, I have some exciting things to share with you all.
1. We celebrated Ag Day on the Hill this Tuesday. We had lots of farmers and their pigs, goats, sheep, and cows join us in the festivities. We even had a log sawing competition between the House of Representatives, the Senate, and our Executive branch.
2. The Senate Health Committee met Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We heard a lot of interesting legislation, including one regarding certificate of need and the future of acute care in Tennessee.
3. A group of Middle Tennessee Christian School’s juniors and seniors visited me this past Wednesday. My daughter was among this group, and I had a great time hosting her and her classmates at the Capitol.
4. This week, we had several skilled assistant living and nursing home groups here on the hill. I am so thankful for these individuals who dedicate their lives to taking care of our senior citizens.
5. This Thursday, I passed SB 1790 on the Senate Floor. SB 1790 gives formulators in Tennessee’s jails and prisons the ability to prescribe non-opiate options to prisoners.
March Madness also began this week! I know I’ll be rooting for Tennessee when they face Miami in the next few days.
This Wednesday, I shared some words with the crowd at the Capitol’s annual Agriculture Day on the Hill. As the Senate Energy, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Committee Chairman, I will continue to advocate for legislation that will help Tennessee’s farming and livestock industries thrive.
This Thursday, we celebrated Agriculture Day on the Hill here at the Capitol! Ag Day on the Hill is one of my favorite Session traditions. Every year, we celebrate Tennessee’s farmers, who work tirelessly to support our communities.
Hard to believe that my baby girl is 19 years old today. Happy birthday, Emma White. Love you.
This past Wednesday, we celebrated Sportsman’s Day on the Hill at the Beth Harwell Plaza. I’m thankful for the Tennessee Wildlife Federation for all they do to protect Tennessee’s wildlife and access to public spaces.
I’m honored to have been nominated for GOPAC’s 2026 Emerging Leaders Class.
This program brings together Republican legislators from across the country who are committed to advancing ideas that make our communities more prosperous. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and work alongside leaders who are dedicated to serving their states and constituents.
