Murfreesboro, TN, July 14, 2018 — Senator Shane Reeves announced yesterday that Marshall County and Wartrace, a town in Bedford County, will receive Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD). These grants are designed to assist cities and counties with infrastructure needs.
Marshall County will receive $525,000 for water line extension. It will be used to extend water lines to portions of Robertson Road, Dean Road, Haislip Hollow Road and Virgil Beasley Road. The proposed project will serve 91 people of which at least 60 percent are low to moderate income.
Wartrace will receive $390,600 for water system improvements to replace old water meters to address water loss in the system.
“This grant is important to improving public health and quality of life for our citizens,” said Senator Reeves. “Only 50 percent of grant applications received funding, so I want to thank our local officials for their great work in securing this grant.”
